A project by Carlos Contreras Elvira and Juan Carlos Ibáñez Angulo
"Ocupación poetica is a project born from the union of art and new technology. We occupy with poetic audiovisual files the uninhabitable space there is in every space, that is, the non-places there are in every place".
Is it possible to occupy- using sound or visual files- the uninhabitable space there is in every space, that is, the non-places there are in every place?
Augmented Reality (AR) allows us to georeference content using specific coordinates. Accessing the Internet using mobile devices, such as smartphones, these archives can be found and played, as long as they are within our coverage area. Poetic occupation turns readers into active visitors to poetically repurposed sites.
This initial non-invasive repurposing of space brings together literary creation, music and reading dramatizations, and expands through different parts of the Arganzuela district. Streets, parks and squares, the grounds of Matadero Madrid and Madrid Rio, all the schools in the district of Arganzuela, businesses, public and private spaces. Furthering the agenda of the anti-guide, one can discover a number of audio-poems,in an effort to offer the local residents and passersby a new way to experience this portion of the city.

Intermediae is inviting poets, musicians, educators and anyone else who is interested to submit their work in order to continue with this poetic occupation of Legazpi and other neighborhoods in the city. Submissions will be included with the initial work created by Carlos Contreras Elvira and Juan Carlos Ibáñez Angulo.

Ocupación poetica is a project that began in 2010 with a collaboration between cultural agitator Juan Carlos Ibáñez Angulo and writer Carlos Contreras Elvira. It currently has two thousand associated projects in twenty-one countries over every continent.
