"Foto o no pasó". Popular audiovisual open call
Participate and win, sending your best summer snapshots and recordings! Anyone can participate via Internet and come vote for their favorites at Matadero Madrid Saturday, September 7 for the closing of Ribera Matadero. The three winners will be awarded a trophy especially designed by Luis Úrculo and presented by Supremme de Luxe.
Participate in one or several of the three categories:
1. Photography “My Friends Are Ugly but I Love Them"
Don't erase them! Send us that pic where your friends are blurry,their eyes are crossed, or they're drooling. Take pictures of your buddies on vacation, on the beach, or in the square at Matadero, and send us the funniest snapshot.
2. Video “5 Second Dip"
You've got five seconds to show us your art and skill jumping in the water. At the pool, at the lake, in the bathtub... Use your imagination. The best dip wins!
3. Old Picture Revival “Those Wonderful Summers"
What were summers like in the 20th century? We want to see those hairdos and demodé swimsuits! You can go through your family album or hit the flea market in search of beat-up pictures that represent an attic-full of memories.
Technical Requirements
Photographs must be sent via e-mail to ja.colectivo@gmail.com with "Foto o no pasó - Photography" or "Foto o no pasó - Revival" (depending on the desired category) in the 'Subject' line, attached in JPG format, with a file size maximum of 5MB. Small or poor-quality images will not be accepted, nor will those deemed done in bad taste.
Videos must be sent via e-mail to ja.colectivo@gmail.com with "Foto o no pasó - Video" in the 'Subject' line, with a size of under 10MB and a length of five seconds.
The attached file must be named using its category within the contest and using the author's name. For example:
photo_lastname_firstname.jpg
video__lastname_firstname.mov
revival__lastname_firstname.jpg
Projects not fulfilling these requirements will be disqualified. The open call ends August 31, 2013 at midnight.
Choice of winners and prizes
¡JA! will choose finalists based on whether the projects fulfill the categories' themes, and according to their comic value and artistic qualities.
At the September 7 "Foto o no pasó" session, all finalists' work will be screened and the public will decide, with a popular vote, the three winners. Only those participants who are present at this session will be able to accept a prize, which will be announced between 9pm and 11pm. In case a chosen winner is absent, the person with the most votes after said winner will be chosen.
There will be one winner for each of the three categories, with each person receiving an exclusive trophy designed by artist Luis Úrculo.
All photographs presented, as well as videos, must be presented accompanied by the first and last name and government ID number, as well as a contact number or e-mail address, for the participant, who must be the author of said work. Submitted photographs and videos must not contain images that could infringe upon any rights reserved or represent an offense to the honor or privacy of the individuals appearing therein. Consent must be given by those persons depicted if it were necessary.
Participants accept that any personal information given in applying to this open call may be stored in personal information databases (Cultural Activities and Open Calls) belonging to Madrid Arte y Cultura S.A, for the purposes of managing this open call. The individual's rights of access, to rectify, cancel, and oppose this information can be exercised at Calle Montalbán 1 - 7th floor, Madrid.
