Radio Sures is a web-based radio for à la carta radiophonic documentaries.  It has no extra photos, no supporting video, no bonus multimedia.  Our thing is telling stories exclusively with sound resources!  We illustrate this aesthetic approach once a month in a public event devoted to listening.  We offer up a selection of narrative sound documentaries in Spanish and also in other languages, with subtitles.  We listen in the dark, seated or lying down, as if we were in a cinema taking in a film without pictures.  It might have been Orson Welles who said, "What the radio's got that movies don't is that, with the radio, the screen's bigger."   At each session a special guest is invited to provide his point of view (and of hearing) on audio documentaries.  It's never a sound or radio specialist.  They come from another creative field: film, painting, photography, literature, theatre, etc.  Rather than analyze, this person shares their sensations, their impressions, as a listener.  With their intervention we build bridges between sound and other artistic disciplines.   For the third session our special guest is photographer Nacho Arias.
Following his lead we will reflect upon “Portraying a person with sound”.  We're not talking about ID photos  but rather about portraits from an artist's point of view.  The one who is behind the camera or the microphone puts aside any pretense of objectivity in order to get across their own interpretation of the person they're portraying.  In this creative process, the person becomes a “character”.   Nacho Aria, B.A. Fine Arts, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, has been working as a photographer for more than fifteen years.  He has had his work shown in museums, galleries, and art centers such as El Círculo de Bellas Artes, La Casa de América and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid.  His work has also been chosen for display in festivals such as PhotoEspaña, Emergentes (Braga, Portugal) and the International Festival of Vienna 2010.  Currently, he continues working on his personal projects with several series that will be finished over 2013.
